Architektur-In-Residency Luckenwalde
Design education residency and community activation
Luckenwalde, Germany (2022–2025)
with Zoe ritts

Curating the artistic program and co-coordinating a 3-year design education residency and non-profit association focused on democratizing access to architectural practice. Soft-launched in 2022, the program reactivates unused building stock and empty plots in Luckenwalde by supporting young practitioners and collectives who operate outside traditional institutional frameworks. Over three cycles, the residency hosted Emotional Architecture and Kollektiv X (2023), Jennifer Baus and Burcu Daglayan (2024), and Anna Ulmer and Thies Warnke (2025), tasking them with the design and construction of architectural interventions defined by the specific needs of local youth and the surrounding community.

The project functions as a laboratory for anti-speculative land-use models, turning the construction process into a form of collective capacity building. Working in close collaboration with the Klab Young Center, spatial practitioners developed a series of permanent and temporary structures, including a community-built playground (Spielplatz) and a functional windmill. Each residency cycle culminated in an expansive public cultural program designed to return the research to the city. These final activations featured workshops, performances, and site-specific interventions by a diverse group of contributors, including Prajna Kumaraswamy, Paula Caldirola, Nour Kiwis, Barbara Azevedo, Mortiz Appich, Khansa Humeidan, Wen-Ling Chung, and Amuleto Manuela.
